Which Pokemon Grading Company Should I Use? (2026)
There’s no universally right grading company in 2026. There’s a right grading company for this card, with this timeline, for this buyer. Here’s the decision tree.
Start with the card
Vintage WOTC (Base, Jungle, Fossil, Neo, etc.)? PSA. The vintage Pokemon comp pool on PSA is deeper than every other grader combined. You’ll get the most predictable resale.
Modern foil chase (special art, illustration rares)? Check PSA and CGC comps. CGC’s Perfect/Pristine tiers can produce a meaningful premium on flawless modern cards, but only when the comp pool exists.
Card you think is genuinely Black Label material? BGS. It’s the only company that grants Black Label, and the premium is real.
Card you need turned around fast? ACE or SGC. PSA’s regular service can take months; ACE and SGC are consistently faster.
Then check the buyer
If you’re flipping into one specific community (a Discord server, a particular Reddit sub, a single-buyer relationship), grade with the company that community accepts. Some Pokemon flipping circles trade almost exclusively in PSA. Others mix freely. Don’t grade for an audience that won’t pay for it.
Then check the comps
Open the card in Eyevo. The matrix shows you live sold comps across PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC, ACE, and TAG. If one company has 30 sold listings in the last 30 days and another has zero, you have your answer — grade with the company that’s actually trading.
When in doubt
Default to PSA for vintage and high-value modern. Default to ACE or SGC if you need speed. Default to BGS if your card has a real shot at sub-grade perfection. CGC for modern foils where Perfect/Pristine is plausible.
But always check the comps for your specific card before sending. Eyevo makes that a ten-second check.
